Copy 1

This is my copy of the 'The Jungle' by Upton Sinclair.

I first drew the outline of the shapes adding shading for the shadows.

After scanning the outline it I then went around it with the lasso tool then filling it with a solid colour. I then added a gradient and inner shadow to try and replicate the real book.

I then went around the outline of the clouds once again adding a solid colour. I then added a drop shadow to each of the different clouds.

Then I went around the outline of the font with the lasso tool, once again adding a solid colour to each of the different letters.

Then I went round the font of the artists name adding solid colour after each letter. I also drew the outline of the houses and filled with a solid colour.

I then touched up the edges of the final piece I then added the white buildings over the top once again going around it with lasso tool adding filling with solid colour. Finally I added a gradient to the background similar to the original book cover, shown below.

This is the original image I used to do my copy from.

Coloured Scamps

I started by drawing out the basic design in my sketchbook of book covers I found interesting. I tried to add shading to add some tone, then would try to recreate this in Photoshop later.

I then took the images in my sketchbook and added colour using the lasso tool, also sampling the colours from the original images using the eye dropper  tool. I also added some text to some designs are I tried to replicate the designs closely. But I also tried to keep some of the original drawings from my sketchbook.

This is the finished scamps after being coloured in Photoshop.

These are the book covers that I found interesting and focused my scamp copies on.
